Kersia CLEANLUBE Project: Leading the Way to Safer, Sustainable Conveyor Lubrication

CLEANLUBE, an innovative project by Kersia, has been selected as one of nine laureates by Belgium Builds Back Circular (BBBC). This prestigious initiative supports research, development, and innovation aimed at reducing reliance on harmful substances and promoting safer, more sustainable alternatives.

Benoît Duculot is presenting Kersia’s latest innovation project, CLEANLUBE, at the Sustainable Chemicals and SSbD workshop organized by the Belgian Federal Public Service Economy on December 9, 2024

As part of Kersia’s commitment to food safety and environmental responsibility, CLEANLUBE focuses on creating a new range of conveyor lubricants that are free from environmentally harmful components and long-term health hazards. This next-generation product range is designed to offer comparable or even improved performance, while significantly optimizing water preservation during application.

Key objectives of CLEANLUBE include:

1) Efficacy and Water Savings:

  • The new product range aims to achieve the same or higher efficacy as the current range.
  • A key focus will be enhancing water savings during product application.

2) Safety:

  • The products must be safe for use, even in cases of incidental food contact.
  • They should be non-corrosive to conveyor installations.

3) Sustainability and Innovation:

  • Collaboration with partner universities will explore the potential of locally sourced European raw materials.
  • Replacement of amines by sustainable alternatives.

4) Biodegradability and Environmental Impact:

  • Preference will be given to biobased and readily biodegradable substances.
  • The new formulations must not negatively impact downstream water treatment processes.
  • Improved wastewater reusability within industrial plants will be prioritized.

As a leader in food safety from farm to fork, Kersia is committed to providing innovative solutions that safeguard public health and the environment. Conveyor lubrication plays a vital role in the beverage industry, ensuring the smooth transport of containers along bottling lines without compromising safety or efficiency.
